Description
Purchased from an antiques dealer in my local market, once I heard him mention “Waterlows and something to do with banknotes”, I just had to buy it.
Marked ‘Waterlow (& Bros? unclear) Manufacturers, London, I believe it was a tool used to sort and check printed sheets of banknote paper.
Made from possibly some sort of fruit wood and in great condition for its age (probably 1930s or 40s), I sense it must be pretty scarce, as most would have been thrown on the bonfire when factories closed down, so perhaps this was kept by a former employee.
